Sunday, November 6 Sunset arrived at 4:42 p.m. on our first day of “standard” time. And in another 48 hours, a tremendous shadow would fall across our country.

Dark days lie ahead. But now more than ever, we turn to the light. One beacon: The Southern Poverty Law Center, which combats hate, intolerance and discrimination through education and litigation.

And the American Civil Liberties Union shines on.

Of course, a “hyuuuge” loser in all this is the environment. So we turn our eyes to the National Resources Defense Council, which uses law and science (remember that?) to safeguard the earth, as well as Greenpeace and other groups that fight global warming.

Sigh. Darkness can make it hard to see well. So let’s hold hands—and keep our eyes open. 😦 😦
