Well, this summer is starting to fray around the edges. Last Saturday, we decided to take ourselves—and our parrot, Kuno—for a walk while the late-summer air was still warm.
Like most psittacines, Kuno delights in chewing stuff. Like his carrier. (The inside is becoming quite frayed.)
Below, more end-of-summer scenes from our little family outing.
Even the bees are tired. Here’s one sleeping (yes, they do!). Thanks to kayaking pal, Ivy, for this photo she took in her garden. Shhhhhh.
Hush little bombus, don’t buzz and nod, Papa’s gonna buy you a goldenrod.
LOL — maybe the neighborhood could use some asters! More seriously, high summer indeed on the way out, bittersweet September at hand. Paddle season about to enter the home stretch, hope yours has gone well. For us a good one after a belated start. Paddle #70 today, celebrating Julie’s last binary exponential birthday on the river.
Sorry I haven’t been around in so long. This is nice – what an amazing backpack that is – I’ve never seen one like that. But no surprise it’s getting frayed.
Hi, Lyn! Yes, LOL, Kuno has been working on that backpack/bird carrier for a while now. He loves it (aside from the chew toy aspect) — he gets to go on walks with us, while feeling safe inside a cage-like environment. It has a perch and side/front flaps, for privacy (i.e., freakout prevention). Thx for the visit! Glad to hear from you 🙂
